Grace, Mercy, and Strength – March 17 Inspiration
Grace, mercy, and strength. Qualities that would be nice to have consistently. I’ve always been taught the difference between grace and mercy is this:
GRACE = getting what we don’t deserve
God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense
MERCY = not getting what we do deserve
Here’s your St. Patrick’s Day inspiration…
“You can have a brand new start today.
Allow God’s mercy to strengthen and heal you
before starting your routine activities.
Receive His healing power,
and let its grace work in you.
Today can be effortless
as you depend on God’s gace
to do what He has called you to do.”
–Joyce Meyer
My reflections:
I have this quote printed out and tacked to the wall above my desk, so I read it every day–sometimes multiple times a day. There’s definitely some truth to the part about days being effortless (or at least considerably less effort) when I depend on God’s grace and plan for the day, than when I try to go it alone and spend the day struggling and discouraged.
So what are YOUR thoughts?
Have you pondered the difference between grace and mercy?
Does an early morning time of prayer or meditation make your day easier?

Sometimes I find it such a struggle to have those 3. Taking the high road feels at times like I’m just letting others walk all over me.

I’ve never thought of it this way!
I love the way the word grace is broken down. I love Gods riches and thank Him every day for the cross.

This is like an awakening for me. I must say, this is the first time I’ve thought about the difference between the two. I never even thought they went hand in hand. Thank you for teaching me something new.
To me grace and mercy mean basically the same thing.
I had never really thought about the difference between grace and mercy but it’s interesting. I’m glad that we can have both!

I’m so thankful for God’s grace and mercy. While the two are different both are so important to understand. I’m thankful for my family and friends this St. Patrick’s week.

I like these definitions of grace and mercy. I like Joyce Meyer too.
I have never taken the time to think about the difference. Thanks for for the budge
I should take quiet time out in the morning – but usually I am running around at top speed (or trying to blog!) getting ready for work. To my surprise, I discovered that my mother in law (who is religious) meditates every morning upon wakening. It’s something I should adopt, too.

I should meditate before going to work. Serving the public is very stressful, I enjoy helping others but sometimes its overwhelming.
I haven’t stopped to think about the difference between grace and mercy, but your post definitely enlightened me a bit. My Mom keeps telling me about the power of meditation, but I haven’t been able to get into it much.
