Do Not Despise Small Beginnings – April 10 Inspiration

Do not despise small beginnings. This is thought-provoking. Consider how life begins, from the seeds planted in the ground to the conception and life cycles of animals and humans. Small beginnings. Yet under normal and healthy growing conditions, small beginnings lead to new forms of life. Another perspective is how now established authors all started with that first published work, or how now successful businesses began with that first project or assignment. We all have to begin somewhere, and it’s usually that small beginning we should not despise!

Here’s your Sunday inspiration!

“You are probably believing God

for something to come to  pass in your life.

If you look, you will find evidence

of a small beginning.

God gives you seed–

something that causes you to hope.

Rejoice over that seed.

It is a sign of greater things to come.

When you despise something,

you regard it lightly.

You count it as nothing

and don’t take care of it.

But if you don’t take care of what God has given you,

you will lose it.

You need to be content during the small things.

You know the Lord is the Author and Finisher

(see Hebrews 13:2).

What he begins, He completes

(see Philippians 1:6).

Don’t curse your seed

by complaining or proclaiming

negative things over it.

Instead, say,

‘Lord, this is only a little thing,

but thank You for giving me some hope,

something to hold on to.

Thank You, Lord, for a beginning.”

–Joyce Meyer in “Ending Your Day Right”

My reflections:

I am so thankful for all the small beginnings in my life recently! I anticipate greater things to come to fruition from these small beginnings. It’s an exciting journey!

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Can you identify some small beginnings in your life?

Have you seen greater things materialize from small beginnings?

  1. Thanks for your encouragement in this post! I love the idea of closing the door to the past and walking into your future. I use that concept in suggesting healing rituals people can do. And since I am an author, I quite liked what you had to say about that!! 🙂

    Have a great day!

  2. Everything tends to have small beginnings. I have found that in my life anyways, that there have been many small beginnings and hey have always led to something bigger and good for me.

  3. I think when we start small and grow, it makes things more meaningful as we grow. I love the quote about closing the door to the past, I know someone that can really relate to that.

  4. Small beginnings are beginnings nonetheless. It’s where all the big things start anyway. It may not seem like it when you’re just starting, maybe that’s why a lot of people give up easily. But for those who decide to stay and keep doing what they’re doing, success is just around the corner, and your “small” beginning doesn’t seem small anymore.

  5. Sometimes we forget how we got to where we are. Most of us never forget our first anything. Me, I’ll never forget my first sale with THM. Still brings a smile to my face. Especially on those days when I wonder why I do what I do. It allows me to move forward.

  6. Karen, I looove new beginnings of every sort: a new season, a new month, a new baby, a new year! All of them are such a blessing! A new day, as Anne Shirley said, “brand new with no mistakes in it!”

  7. Sometimes we need to start with small beginnings before it can grow into big successes. It’s like the easy versus hard times in life. We can’t always have everything the easier way.
