Sometimes Trying to Remain in Control
Makes Us Lose Control
Yes, I have experienced this for nearly the whole month of January. Other obligations and circumstances kept taking over, regardless of my attempts to control and redirect them. The result, I confess, was a less than pleasant attitude, and very little activity here on my blog, which is likely obvious to those who visit frequently and/or who subscribe to this blog.
Trying continually to grasp and control something that ultimately is NOT in your control is like holding a bar of wet soap that begins to slip from your hand–the more you try to squeeze it to keep your hold on it, the more it’s likely to slip from your grasp!
Likewise, I finally had to just let go of certain situations, change my attitude, and take care of other things before I could once again turn my attention back to blogging!
I’m still not sure I fully understand WHY certain things happen as they do, but I do know God moves in mysterious ways at times. In spite of how it looks from our limited human perspective, God some how is at work to bring about good outcomes for us, in line with His plan and will for our lives. It reminds me of this verse from Jeremiah 29:11 (a good life verse) …
So onto today’s inspirational thought.
“Many times the Lord is with us, and we don’t even know it.
God is there with you even when circumstances seem out of control.
He is already working everything together for your good.
Therefore, we should rededicate ourselves to God every morning.”
–Joyce Meyer in “Starting Your Day Right”
Ah yes, attitude…another quote I’ve seen often is, “Attitude controls altitude.” If we don’t control our attitudes, we aren’t going to get very far–or at least not in the right direction!
We just have to believe God’s presence is with us and His hand is bringing us through whatever needs to happen, working all things out for our good.
It sure doesn’t seem like it, sometimes, at the time we’re going through a challenging situation…yet when we look back–much like the Footprints poem–we can see how and where God carried us through and worked things out for us.
So What Are YOUR Thoughts?
Have you experienced this when there seemed to be nothing good about a situation, yet it worked out in your favor?
Do you think attitude really plays a major role in the outcomes we experience in our lives?
