Rest and Renewal!

Think of the most peaceful, restful times you have had, from a really good night’s sleep after a long day, to a vacation in a tropical resort or a mountain retreat. When we get truly rested, we feel our strength and motivation renewed to face another day, or whatever circumstances may come our way.

“God arranged life in 24-hour periods; we sleep for awhile, and then wake up refreshed to start all over again. God intended every morning to be a brand new start, a fresh opportunity. We can go to bed feeling hopeless and worn out, thinking, ‘I just don’t believe I can go on.’

But some how, a good night’s rest renews us, and we wake up with faith again, thinking, ‘Maybe today my breakthrough will come, and I will get an answer; I can make it one more day.’

So thank God for mornings!”

My Reflections

I definitely still need to work on getting more sleep so I feel refreshed in the morning! Anticipating much needed breakthroughs is also a good plan.

I also try to reflect on the blessings of the day as I drift off to sleep, as that seems to make for a more peaceful sleep.

  1. Today I do! I have been struggling with back pain for more than a week (not sure if it’s shoveling, dog walking, or just sitting at my desk too much) and I went for a therapeutic massage on Friday and my massage therapist suggested I take yoga breaks during the day and I have found some 10 minute yoga videos on YouTube and figured out how to “cast” them onto my TV so for the first day in a week I was not dreading getting up and starting my day!

    Your post also reminded me that I need to let go of things before I go to sleep because I can pick them back up in the morning after I’ve rested.

  2. Nights have always been the worst for me in terms of discouragement. But then the sun comes up again, and all feels right with the world. It is nice to know I am not the only one who struggles this way.

  3. I definitely need to be in my bed asleep by 9. Early mornings make any time after that a tired morning. God definitely needs us to rest up so that he can restore us. Great reminder!

  4. I love the idea that each morning is a fresh new start and try to live my life with this in mind. Dragging yesterday’s problems along today doesn’t help us feel empowered or happy, but opening up to new opportunities each day is a great way to feel energised.
