Rules of Happiness #5 – Learn to Let Go – January 10 Devotions

at

Happy second Sunday in 2016!! Our day was a bit off today; pouring rain and high winds, flood warnings, and power outage…in January. We’ve had power outages in January before, but usually due to blizzards, NOT rain! But like today’s rule of happiness, I let it go, and enjoyed working on things that didn’t need electricity. When the power was on, I enjoyed sewing some more.

Onto today’s rule…

Rule #5 – Learn to Let Go

“Remember, letting go doesn’t mean you “forgive” the person at the grocery store, or you “allow” that kind of behavior. It just means that you release the negative emotion inside of you.

By releasing negative emotions, you’ll not only enjoy much more freedom in your life – you’ll also become more emotionally stable and less stressed too.” — Karl Moore

“By letting it go, it all gets done.

The world is won by those who let it go.

But when you try and try, the world is beyond the winning.”

–Lao Tzu

This rule fits in nicely with the post I published last week about Setting Down Baggage and Letting Go. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, please check it out!

My reflections:

There’s so much truth to this, even though it’s not always easy to do. Yet, when we set down our excess baggage and let go of burdens we aren’t meant to carry, it really does lead to greater happiness and life seems lighter and more care-free.

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Do you agree in the value of letting go and moving forward? Did you get a chance to read my related post, Setting Down Baggage and Letting Go ?  I had to post it late because my host’s server was down all day.

K-Lee, I love your thoughts! Joel Osteen was on this very topic today, and I listened to his sermon twice! You are so right that we feel lighter when we LET IT GO. After all, the person who harmed us is unchanged by our holding on. Sorry you had a power outage! Please keep writing!
