Rules of Happiness #4 – Follow Your Bliss – July 16 Inspiration

Happy Saturday! Are you doing anything special this weekend? Doing something you enjoy, maybe something blissful?

We are continuing to look at one rule each day for the rest of this month of July, excerpted from the Rules of Happiness (NOT an affiliate link) by Karl Moore.

If you missed any, so far we have learned about:

Rule #1: Stop Feeling Sorry for Yourself

Rule #2: Be Grateful

Rule #3: Say Yes More

And today’s rule to promote happiness is really fun…

Rule #4 – Follow Your Bliss

Bliss is what you’re doing when you’re wrapped up in the moment. When you’re so thrilled just to be doing it, it ceases even to be work anymore.

Your bliss occurs when you’re living in the moment, and time doesn’t really matter anymore. It’s not for the money, it’s for the pleasure.” –Karl Moore

When you follow your bliss,

doors will open where you would not

have thought there would be doors;

and where there wouldn’t be

a door for anyone else.”

Joseph Campbell

My reflections:

I love this one. Seems just right for a Saturday, for following my passion and bliss in planning and continuing to work on quilt projects! I have some new orders and gifts to complete, and I’m looking forward to working on them. These were two of my most recent projects, for a self-proclaimed “foodie” who planned to put these banners in her kitchen.

Food banners created for an Etsy customer.

So what are YOUR thoughts?

What do you think about this rule?

Do you have something special in your life that evokes bliss and happiness?

Is it something you can do today and/or this weekend?

K-Lee, what a wonderful topic for today! I’m still trying to land on what “bliss” really is :-). I don’t agree with the last quote, that we must find extraordinary work to find bliss. Sometimes I’m in the Flow, in utter bliss, clearing and planting in my garden. I feel the presence of God there, and it’s very pleasant. Thanks for a fun and provocative post!

    Beautiful post!

Finding happiness for me has to come from within first. My furkids are a sure way for me to find my happy place and bring me out of a funk. Spending time with my hubs and enjoying life is another happy place.

Passing this along as I know some that could benefit from this post and book.

I think this is another way to say that you have to keep doing what you love. Life is short and it’s better spent doing what makes you happy. Fuel your passion and keep following your dreams!
