Rule of Happiness #18 – Laugh, Dance, and Smile – July 30 Inspiration

Laugh, dance, and smile. I don’t think it would be possible to remain unhappy if we regularly spent time laughing, dancing, and smiling–even if we’re by ourselves (which is about the only time I would be dancing–well, maybe with hubby!) With all the fur babies in our home, they provide a source of laughter and smiling multiple times a day.

Well, we’re done with Karl Moore’s Rules of Happiness! Remember, again, I’ve only shared excerpts – his book (available in digital form at Amazon for only 99 cents!) has longer detailed entries for each “rule.” No affiliate links here, remember – just a good book I thought was worth sharing! Tomorrow, July 31, we’ll wrap up the month with an overview and summary of the 18 Rules of Happiness.

Here are all the other rules, from #1 to #17, for those who haven’t read them all or for anyone who wants to refer back to them:

Rule #1: Stop Feeling Sorry for Yourself

Rule #2: Be Grateful

Rule #3: Say Yes More

Rule # 4: Follow Your Bliss

Rule #5: Learn to Let Go

Rule #6: Do Random Acts of Kindness

Rule #7: Enjoy Happiness NOW

Rule #8: Invest in Experiences NOT Hoarding Possessions

Rule #9: Appreciate BOTH Sides of the Coin

Rule #10: Be More Social

Rule #11: Love More

Rule #12: Pursue a Dream

Rule #13: Set Direction with Intention

Rule #14: Enjoy Simple Pleasures

Rule #15: Accept What Is

Rule #16: Exercise and Eat Well

Rule #17: Zoom Out and Don’ t Sweat It!

So here it is–the final Rule of Happiness! 🙂

Rule #18– Laugh, Dance, Smile!

Surround yourself with happiness –wonderful music, dance classes, evenings with friends.

Take time to laugh at the craziness of life!  Splash out and enjoy to the max.

True happiness, self-development, freedom, comes from inside –

and is expressed externally in bright faces, a big smile, and plenty of laughing.

Laugh at all of the silly problems you’ve been holding on to, so very well, for so long.”  –Karl Moore

A friendly look, a kindly smile,

one good act, and life’s worthwhile.

My reflections:

I confess it’s difficult sometimes to laugh or smile, if I focus on the negative things going on around me. But if I make the effort to look around and count my blessings, smiling and laughing are much easier to do (I’m really not much of a dancer!)

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Are you able to rise above your sometimes negative circumstances and engage in smiling, laughing, and even dancing?

Have you enjoyed learning about these 18 rules of happiness? Which ones are your favorites?

Thanks for reading! Be sure to return on the last day of July tomorrow for an overview and wrap-up of the 18 Rules of Happiness!

  1. I try to laugh, dance and smile as much as possible.

  2. I pretty much like all the rules you’ve mentioned. I follow the rules of positive thinking/mindfulness. I force myself to see life in a positive way even when things go wrong. I know that ever bad/negative that happens to us is basically a lesson for us to learn from and grow.

  3. I love the idea of just surrounding yourself with happiness, there’s nothing like good vibes to keep you from feeling down! It’s important to have time for things like listening to good music and dancing!

  4. I totally agree with the random acts of kindness. Even something simple like opening a door for someone, or helping someone that looks lost!

  5. I love your rules of happiness and I’ll try to live by these rules daily. I wake up my mind everyday to spend it being happy (despite chronic pain from back surgery).

  6. Thanks for sharing all of these 18 rules. They all ring so true and we should all try and practice them as much as we can! I know I will be focusing more on 6, 10 and 16.

  7. I try to smile and laugh even if I am pain

  8. I’ve been reading these rules and this one is nice! It is important that we don’t deprive ourselves from happiness and laughter.

  9. This seems like a good read. We need to do silly things every now & then. Life is too short to be negative and to be caught in trivial stuff. We should not just surround ourselves with good vibes, we ourselves should also imbibe it & spread positivism to others.

  10. I’ve been told that I look younger than my age, and a couple of reasons I think that is why is because I am constantly smiling, laughing and happy (for the most part). I think that is a fountain of youth that everyone should tap into more.

  11. Good article. Yes our world has changes and we are suffering from lack of kindness and forgiveness. Thanks for sharing such wonderful tips. Everyone must read this.

  12. This is a wonderful post. I’ll have to look for this book! I’m trying to live with ore happiness in my life!

  13. God is good and has blessed me with joy, especially in my times of trials.
I always find occasions to be happy 🙂
Really good list too. I hope I get to read this book.

  14. They say laughter is the best medicine and I couldn’t agree more. For me, it is really a relief.
