Overcoming Insecurity and Lack of Confidence – August 4 Inspiration

Overcoming insecurity and lack of confidence. Sometimes we become so overwhelmed with everything going on around us, we feel insecure and lose confidence in ourselves or in our ability to ever move forward and accomplish our goals. Instead of allowing negativity to overcome us, we need to concentrate on those “baby steps” and recognize progress in small chunks. Every step counts! It’s a matter of redirecting our focus on what we CAN do, one step at a time, rather than on what we can NOT do–kind of like a decluttering job, when we need to tackle one box, one drawer, one pile at a time, instead of getting overwhelmed by the entire room and giving up.

So onto today’s inspirational, motivational thought.

“A lot of people never do anything

because they cannot do everything.

They are negative people who concentrate

on what they cannot do,

instead of seeing what they can do

and then doing it.

If you confidently step out and do your part,

God will surround you with people

who have the gifts and abilities that you don’t have.

However, when people lack confidence,

quite often they cannot receive

help from other people.

Insecurity and a lack of confidence

will steal the wonderful life

that God has planned for you.

It causes us to be jealous of and resent those

whom we should appreciate.

Pray: Lord, You have designed me

with gifts and abilities

to develop and use in service with others.

Keep me from being jealous of others,

and help me to enjoy the journey. Amen.”

–Joyce Meyer in “The Confident Woman Devotional”

My reflections:

I confess that I have suffered from insecurities and lack of confidence for a long time…TOO long! I really need to make this change in focusing on what I can do, using the gifts God has given me to fulfill the purpose He has orchestrated for my life.

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Do you suffer from insecurities and lack of confidence?

Have you discovered strategies to deal with insecurity and instill confidence so you can accomplish your goals?

  1. I have never struggled with a lack of confidence. That must be a real struggle for people who don’t have much.

  2. We must never forget to remind ourselves about our strengths, it is what makes us feel more confident to do more things in life! It’s definitely something that we need especially during tough times.

  3. Sometimes is almost impossible not to feel insecure, sometimes things get really overwhelming and we get overly anxious thinking about the things to come…but it’s all about being able to get over all this and find our strength

  4. I am working on overcoming my issues with confidence. Insecurity has always played a role in my life since I was younger and once you become an adult, some things seem more difficult to battle. One day at a time, one step at a time, it’s all a learning lesson with curves. Yes!

  5. I do suffer from insecurities and lack of confidence. I pray to God when I have these to help me along my way. I feel a peace come over me knowing God is helping me with these things when I pray.

  6. Honestly, this was just what I needed today. I am so insecure about everything and horribly afraid of the future at the moment. And no, I don’t have a strategy but this made me realise I need one. I need to find my baby steps…

  7. I have learned over time to accept myself and what I am. Knowing that God accepts me just as I am was a real eyeopener! It helped me to see that the opinion of others is not what matters.

  8. When I was growing, I experienced lack of confidence but as I mature I learn to accept myself and be confident enough to face the world.

  9. I used to have them. Now I should because I’m def no longer set in life, but I feel shielded from them, for now. I hope that stays. I like it.

  10. For me, insecurity is not a good sign. We must learn to overcome insecurity. I know it is hard, but we should.

  11. It’s always not easy when you’re battling with lack of confidence and I’ve suffered a lot of that when I was growing up with peers, classmates and colleagues. There’s always a very positive source out there that will help you bring your head up.

  12. We’ve all struggled with something in our lives. Lack of confidence is a tough one. As a young adult, I found myself questioning myself and whether or not I was headed in the right path in my career. I love that you’re looking to focus on the positives in your life. That’s the key to getting through all of these thoughts. Good luck, and please keep us posted on your progress.
