Making New Paths
[I decided to re-share this post from March, because it is once again relevant–seems like one of those cyclical types of events!]
This has happened a few times over the past few months. Open doors, new paths, new opportunities that seemed like sure things … only to have doors slam shut or barriers arise in those paths, effectively curtailing the opportunity. It’s easy to get discouraged and feel like not taking another step along life’s journey. Yet we will only grow and fulfill our potential by moving forward, trusting God to give direction and light for the path ahead.
Now onto today’s inspiration. And as always, remember you can read some Psalms and Proverbs for the day at Daily Scripture Readings.
“Despair is a state in which people feel so overcome by a sense of futility or defeat, they don’t know what to do. At such times, it seems there is no way out. But…Jesus has told us, ‘I am the Way’ (see John 14:6).
It is very comforting to know that although there are times when you are pressed on every side and perplexed because there seems to be no way out, the Lord has promised He will not forsake you.
So when it seems you’ve come to a dead end, don’t be driven to despair. God will show you the way to go and lead you through to victory.”
–Joyce Meyer in “Ending Your Day Right”
I am familiar with despair and feeling like there is no way out…yet, some how, God always does make a way.
It might not be quite the “way” I expected, but when it’s God’s way, it’s better than my way! And as this quote says, some doors actually lead to nowhere, or in the wrong direction from where we should be going.
So What Are YOUR Thoughts?
Have you ever tried to reopen a closed door?
Have new doors opened for you recently, or a shortcut along the original path?
