March 6 (Belated) Devotional Thoughts
I’m almost caught up with my DAILY devotional thoughts –these are belatedly for March 6th.
“We should strive to do everything with a spirit of faith. Faith is confidence in God and a belief that His promises are true. Faith will cause a person to go forward, to try new things, and to be aggressive. Fear causes people to bury their talents due to fear of failure, judgment, or criticism. It causes them to draw back in misery and live in torment.
God wants to teach us to walk in the Spirit, not the flesh, and that includes emotions. Unless we make a firm decision to ‘fear not,’ we will never be free from the power of it. I encourage you to be firm in your resolve to do whatever you need to do, even if you have to ‘do it afraid!’
To ‘do it afraid’ means to feel the fear and do what you believe you should do anyway.”
–Joyce Meyer in “The Confident Woman Devotional”
“What a joy it is to know that the government will be on Christ’s shoulders, and that there will be no end to the increase of His government and peace…
His kingdom will be established with justice and righteousness
from then on and forevermore.
Lord, Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom…a kingdom that cannot be shaken. You will never be voted out; no coup will ever dethrone You. For all eternity, You are the King of kings and Lord of lords.
To You be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen!”
–Ruth Myers in “31 Days of Praise”
-1- This one speaks to me, because I think I really have allowed fear to hold me back – fear of making mistakes, fear of rejection, fear of ridicule. I think I might have to try this “Do It Afraid” strategy!
-2- This one seems like the definition of a true paradise, given the condition of our world and its various governments and societies, especially those infiltrated by terrorist organizations. It’s hard to even fathom a government- or a society – that rules fairly, with justice, righteousness, love, and compassion!
So what are YOUR thoughts? Do you find that fear holds you back from realizing your full potential, or are you blessed with a health dose of confidence?
What would your dream society look like?
