Letting Go and Letting God – January 29 Devotions

Letting go and letting God. Another phrase I’ve heard often throughout my life. It’s interesting how many recent posts here and in other blogs so far in this new year have addressed the issue of letting go. It would seem some kind of movement is in the air for people to carry fewer burdens and experience greater freedom in 2016.

Here are your devotional thoughts for this last Friday in January…

Lord, thank You that today…

I can let go of the whole burden of my life and service…

of my marriage, children, and all my relationships

(past, present, and future),

of my inadequacies and my self-dependence,

and rest on Your presence working in me

through the Holy Spirit.

How good it is to transfer these burdens from my shoulders

to Yours, and to rest on You to work in me and through me!

Thank You that I can give myself up to be led by You…

that I can go forth praising and at rest,

letting You manage me and my day…

Thank You that I can throw the whole weight of my anxieties

on You, for I am Your personal concern.”

–Ruth Myers in “31 Days of Praise”

My reflections:

This devotional seems so refreshing. It reminds me of the experience of carrying in several grocery bags at once…and then the relief of setting all those bags down. Letting go of those burdens.

I also like the idea of consulting God for my daily schedule–letting Him manage me and my day–since I don’t do a very good job of it on my own!

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Do you find it easy to let go of burdens? When you do, does it make you feel lighter and less anxious?

  1. It’s important to learn how to let go and move on, especially on things that we have no control over. What a beautiful message.

  2. I trust the Word of God when it says I am to cast ALL my cares on Him. I am learning to cast them and leave them right there in the hands of the person who knows what he is doing more than I do
