Happy Pi Day March 14 Devotional Thoughts
Interesting factoid about this day from MSN.com:
“It’s Pi Day, the celebration date of the number that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. The celebration is held annually on 14 March, because 3/14 spells out the first three digits of pi, which is 3.14.
But it’s not just any Pi Day. This year is the first time in a century that the date is 3/14/15, which describes the first five digits of pi, 3.1415. Mass elation will peak at 9.26:53am when the date and time will describe pi to 10 digits.”
So today, 3/14/15, is one of historical proportions. I don’t know if these devotions are, but I hope they bless you anyway.
“A confident woman avoids comparisons. Confidence is not possible as long as we compare ourselves with other people. No matter how good we look, how talented or smart we are, or how successful we are, there is always someone who is better, and sooner or later, we will run into her.
I believe confidence is found in doing the best we can with what we have to work with and not in comparing ourselves with others and competing with them. Our joy should not be found in being better than others, but in being the best we can be.
Pray: Lord, I refuse to compare myself with others and compete to be better than them. My only interest is to be the best I can be with the gifts and talents You have given me. Amen.”
–Joyce Meyer in “The Confident Woman Devotional”
“Lord, I praise You that Christ is not a weak person outside me, but a tremendous power inside me….through Him I am competent to cope with life, to do Your will, to love with Your love, to be more than a conqueror.
How I rejoice that I can grow, develop my gifts, enlarge my capacities…I need not be forever shackled by my past, but that with confidence and joy, I can look forward to actually becoming all that You have in mind for me to be.”
–Ruth Myers in “31 Days of Praise”
“There may be things going on inside of us that we do not understand. But when we finally arrive at the place where God wants to bring us, we will see how it has prepared us for what God wanted for us all along.”
–Joyce Meyer in “New Day New You”
-1- I admit, I struggle with having or maintaining confidence at times. I don’t usually feel like I’m competing with anyone, but I do tend to compare myself and my achievements with people who work or study in similar areas. I know this is NOT a good habit and is something I should stop doing!
-2- This is the solution for the problem represented in the first devotional share; instead of comparing myself and feeling like I’m falling short, I should just be thankful for and continue to develop the gifts God has given me.
-3- I certainly don’t understand everything that’s going on, BUT … I have seen God’s faithfulness throughout my life, and I know He will continue to be faithful.
So what are YOUR thoughts? Do you struggle with confidence, or find yourself comparing others and their accomplishments to you and your own accomplishments, or lack thereof?
Do you ever feel like you’re still entrapped by your past and it’s keeping you from realizing your full potential?
Finally, do you believe that everything you go through is some how part of the greater plan for your life?
