Gratitude Challenge – November 22 – Thankful for Strength to Stop Judging Others

**NOVEMBER MEANS: GRATITUDE CHALLENGE!!**

 

I am thankful for strength to stop judging others. It’s way too easy to judge and I’m just as guilty as many others are recently of giving into that urge, given the toxic political climate.  But…Judge not or you will be judged the same way. That’s a Biblical principle I grew up with. That, and don’t criticize things about other people that you are just as guilty of doing. Other adages or verses come to mind, like people who live in glass houses should not throw stones...or whoever is without sin can throw the first stone (and everyone walks away, or SHOULD). It’s always easy to overlook (ignore) our own faults, but it seems way too easy to find fault and negative aspects in other people. That negativity, however, has an adverse effect not only on those we judge, but also on us. Equally good reasons to NOT engage in that behavior of judging others.

 

Here is your inspiration for this Tuesday…

we do ourselves.

We make excuses for our own behavior,

but when someone else does the same thing we do,

Doing unto others as we want them to do to us

My reflections:

I often wonder why it seems so much easier to notice the bad instead of the good in people. It seems to be our human nature to criticize more than it is to praise and encourage.  I certainly prefer to encourage others, because that’s the way I want to be treated.

    Yes do unto others us the best way to control your behaviour. Gratitude needs to be practiced everyday.It’s a lifestyle.

    Learning not to judge takes practice, it takes learning to look at all people and things through the eyes of compassion. It is easy to judge but it is harder to try and understand. Everyone has their own path though. I tell myself this every time I have a judgmental thought.
