It’s first Friday – the first Friday in May! Happy May Day! I’m really not sure where the first four months of 2015 went, but wow – they are GONE already!
I want to take this opportunity, on this first day of May, to thank you all for reading my blog, for your heartfelt comments, and for those who follow and/or subscribe to my blog. I really appreciate it! I know if my Dad was still alive–the one to whom this blog is dedicated–he would also be pleased to see that so many of you are encouraged by the words shared here, as I endeavor to carry on his legacy and gift of encouraging others.
So onto our May Day devotions. Remember, too, you can read Psalms and Proverbs to accompany each day on my page, Daily Scripture Readings. AND you have an opportunity on my newest page to put compassion into action–whether through praying, sharing the linked causes, and/or donating.
“Lord, thank You that You love me deeply and tenderly. You are compassionate and gracious, full of lovingkindness, ready to forgive, patiently considerate, and generous beyond imagining.
You desire my love and rejoice to do good things for me. You delight to give me the desires of my heart as I delight myself in You. How precious is Your love to me, O God! I sing for joy as I take refuge in the shadow of Your wings!”
–Ruth Myers in “31 Days of Praise”
“If you have made your mind up that you intend to enjoy the best life God has for you, you must realize that it begins with you. You must believe what God’s Word says about you more than you believe what others say or what your feelings or own mind says.
Maybe you had negative messages fed to you since you were a child. You may have experienced one or more broken relationships and became convinced it was your fault. But whatever the reason for your self-doubt and negative attitude toward yourself, it has to change if you truly desire to enjoy God’s best in your life.
Resist and refuse to let doubt convince you that good things won’t happen to you and your family; aggressively expect good things! Ask God to give you divine supernatural favor and then expect to see it in your life daily.
Pray: Lord, I believe that Your favor supersedes anything that has happened in my life. I expect to see Your blessings poured out today. Amen.”
–Joyce Meyer in “The Confident Woman Devotional”
-1- I always find comfort in this devotional, each first day of the month when I read it, as it’s encouraging to know God loves me unconditionally AND wants to give me the desires of my heart that are in line with His will for me.
-2- Another thought-provoking devotional thought about making right choices. We have to choose to believe what God says about us, focus on the positive, resist doubt and negativity, and trust in God and His divine favor.
So what are YOUR thoughts?
Do you know and believe that God truly loves YOU, unconditionally, regardless of mistakes or faults you may have? Again, it’s about WHO you are, not WHAT you do!
Do you find it easy or difficult to overcome negative experiences of the past–or present–so you can focus on the positive and believe God for His divine direction and favor in your life?
