Does Your FACE Show Your FAITH? August 18 Inspiration

Think about it: Does your FACE show your FAITH? Are you generally a positive, pleasant person, but somehow…your face fails to demonstrate that fact? Sometimes, regardless of our personal spiritual beliefs, or our usually pleasant lifestyles, we tend to allow negative feelings show up on our faces!

So here are today’s inspirational thoughts. Remember you can also read Psalms and Proverbs to accompany each day on my page, Daily Scripture Readings.

“Our countenance is simply the way we look.

It refers to our faces.

In the church today,

we need to be concerned

about our countenance.

When the world looks at us,

they need to see something about us

that is different from them.

Christians are supposed to be

joyful people who walk in love.

We must ask ourselves, ‘

Would people know that I am a Christian

by looking at my countenance most of the time?'”

–Joyce Meyer in “New Day New You”

My reflections:

This is one of those “ouch” devotionals–because I know for a fact that I often forget my smile at home when I’m out and about doing errands and shopping, or going to appointments. Ooops!

I have a distant memory of somebody preaching on how a smile can increase our “face value” — and yet, for people who have the “joy of the Lord” inside, we neglect to let our faces know far too often!

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Did this one get your attention?

Do you ever  forget to bring YOUR smile when you’re around other people, especially if the cares of this life are weighing you down?

  1. I think my lifestyle shows my faith more than my smile. As Christians we are to love others but I don’t think we can be joyful all the time.

  2. What an informative way to start a day by reading one of your articles. Thanks fr inspiring all of us.

  3. I have had quite a few people tell me that I always look crabby or angry even. However, that is not how I feel on the inside. I’m not an especially smiley type of person. It’s just not me. That’s not to say I don’t smile because I definitely do. Hard to change the expression on my face when I’ve been this way my entire life. I did resonate with the message, though. I like to think my life and actions are a good display of my Christian beliefs. 😉
