Creeping Crud Wiped Out Nearly 2 Weeks – March Update – No April Fools!

Happy April 1st! Sorry for my absence the past nearly two weeks…the “creeping crud” (sinus and respiratory infections) wiped me out and kept me on bed rest for the second half of March since my last post on March 20, You Are Not Useless or Hopeless. No, this is not an April Fool’s joke! Sometimes you just have to listen to your body and get the rest you need to recuperate, so you can start fresh with renewed energy and motivation.

Just a few updates from events during these past couple of weeks:

*March 21-25: Even while sick, managed to participate in a 3-part interview for a new freelance instructional design and content development job.

*March 25: I celebrated 31 years of life after nearly dying from injuries sustained when I fell out a second story window to escape a fire. On this day, I also received the contract for the new job!

*March 29: I turned 58 years old–or oldER, as I’ve decided I’m not OLD, just oldER! 😉  My hubby gave me a rose and a card, and brought home dinner and dessert. I heard from all four of my adult kids AND my oldest granddaughter (3 1/2 years old) even said happy birthday and told me she loves me over the phone! I also received nearly 200 birthday greetings on Facebook, so overall…in spite of being sick…not a bad birthday!

*March 30: I was notified I qualified for a new “pathways” dissertation track that can help me finish sooner with a new dissertation Chair…so becoming Dr. Banks by the end of 2016 sounds even more likely! 🙂

So here are a few quotes about accomplishments and new opportunities on this first day of April…

Set your goals high

and don’t stop

till you get there.”

–Bo Jackson

Remember you cannot

accomplish anything alone,

so take the time to thank the people

who have helped you get where you are.”

–Kristine Lilly

Ordinary people

accomplish extraordinary things

every day.”

–Marilyn King

It’s not how fast you get there;

it’s how long you stay.

–Patty Berg
