Are YOU Up to the Challenge? NO Complaining or Negativity in 2017!

Are YOU Up to the Challenge? NO Complaining or Negativity in 2017!

We’re two days into February 2017 — how are things going for you so far? I thought I would mention this post again about my challenge to you (and myself) for 2017:

Some inspiration for today…

“Today thank God and decide

not to complain about anything.

Ask him to show you anytime

you are getting ready to complain

and to help you hold your tongue.

Today, give thanks for what you have

without looking at what you don’t have.

The Word says,

‘Let there be no filthiness (obscenity, indecency)

nor foolish and sinful (silly and corrupt ) talk,

nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting or becoming;

but instead, voice your thankfulness [to God]

(see Ephesians 5:4).

Guard your tongue today!”

–Joyce Meyer in “Starting Your Day Right”

My Reflections

Quite the challenge! No complaining…about anything! I’m guessing we don’t even realize how often we whine or complain about something until we make a concentrated effort NOT to! That, and guarding our tongues, so we don’t randomly utter words and negativity we shouldn’t.

So What Are YOUR Thoughts?

Do you find it difficult NOT to complain?

Have you ever asked God to help you “guard your tongue” so you don’t whine or speak negative words?

  1. Hi,

Thanks for sharing this inspiring post. Our default way of responding to unpleasant situations in our lives is whining and complaining. To do the opposite requires discipline and deliberate programing of the mind for positive thinking.

As for me, though the temptation to whine and complain abounds, I have decided never to give in to them.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Great challenge, not so easy to do though (she said, complaining!!). Seriously though, I think working on keeping our spirits up is important, and can only benefit from being more positive and refusing to indulge in mindless whinging! Great idea, thanks!
