Are YOU a WIP? April 2 Inspiration

Are you a WIP? Quilters might know what that acronym means: Work In Progress. One of those terms we apply to many of our unfinished objects – aka UFOs –Β  that we are working to finish! πŸ˜‰

I was looking through older posts and came across this one from early February, and it just seems to fit with recent transitions in my life, so I wanted to share it again. I hope you enjoy it!

Moving forward in life, with confidence and without fear. Definitely a goal to strive for, even though it can be challenging at times. This idea goes back to a previous post about stepping out to find out. We can’t learn what’s coming up in life without moving forward, turning to the next page in our lives.

Here’s your inspiration for today…

“A confident woman believes she is loved,

valuable, cared for, and safe in God’s will.

When we feel secure,

it’s easy to step out

and take a chance on failing

in order to try to succeed.

When we know we are loved for ourselves,

and not just for our accomplishments

or performance,

we no longer need to fear failure.

We are free to find our own niche in life,

Β which is not possible without stepping out.

Trial and error is the road to success,

and you can’t drive that road

as long as your car is parked.

So get moving, and God will direct you.

When people are confident,

they try things,

and they keep trying

until they find a way to be successful

in what God has called them to do.”

My reflections:

I love the idea of being a “work in progress” — nobody is perfect, but we can continue to strive for excellence in our lives.

I also like the statement: “Trial and error is the road to success, and you can’t drive on that road as long as your car is parked.” Similar analogy again to not opening the automatic door until you step forward to trigger the mechanism. You can stare at it all day, but it won’t open until you step forward!

So what are YOUR thoughts?

Do you boldly step forward in life?

Are you already operating within your niche?

  1. I will be a work in progress until I breathe my last breath πŸ™‚ I know that it is better to always strive for progress than it is to strive for perfection. I wish more people understood that. Great post!

  2. I don’t believe anyone is failure. Sure some of have easier time meeting our goal.
One of my goal I’m slowly working on is to “reopen a ceramic studio” but there are obstacle I need to get though. Which is fine. I believe obstacle teaches us on the way.
No one goals should be judge only kind words to help them along…Coffee is on

  3. From 2012-2015 I learned how to let go and move forward in life. Wasn’t easy or fun but I sure am glad I went through those years to be where I am today. Now I feel like I can handle anything that is thrown my way, knowing I will keep moving forward!

  4. I LOVE THIS! I am going to save it into my DEVOTIONS folder to read often. Thanks Karen!

  5. If anyone says that they are not WIP, then they reached perfection and of course none is perfect. No matter which stage of personal growth and awareness we are, there will always be something to learn about ourselves and the world.

  18. I LOVE the quote and had the pleasure of using it before. Also I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Joyce Meyer!!!!!!!!! Those words of wisdom are magnificent. It is indeed true that we cannot drive the car in park. We do need to feel secure before we start throwing ourselves out there, but with God, we always have the security needed. We have to remember that… Thanks for this great piece!

  19. I spent most of my life not being the one to take that forward step, to not push myself into being someone Iam capable of being. So now Iam! I set myself goals and I take that step forward. I love this post, it is so encouraging and I love the way you have worded things!x

  20. I have always loved the sentiment of being a work in progress. An ever-changing being full of surprises. I think it helps ease the pressure that can come with the idea of “finding yourself,” too, or feeling like you have to find out who you are so that you can define it for everyone else.
